BASILDON SENIOR ROLLERS CLUB

ABOUT THE CLUB

We are a Tenpin Bowling Club, meeting twice a week at Basildon & Quasar Centre, 3-4 High Pavement, Town Square, Basildon.
On Mondays we have a singles competition and on Tuesdays we have a trios league. The teams for those are evenly matched, we get sides with similar handicaps playing against each other.
We're a club for people over the age of 50. We take pretty much anyone of that age, from utter beginners to really experienced people.

CLUB HISTORY

Following a fire at the Bowling Alley on Southend Pier, we started looking for a new venue. We also put up lots of adverts about the club locally and had a really good response. The manager of the bowling alley at Basildon was very pro-active and invited us over, and we've been meeting regularly ever since.

WHAT THE CLUB OFFERS

" I've certainly enjoyed my time bowling, I've been doing it for about 12 year now. With a lot of people, it gives them a good time and it gives them something to do.
I know there's a lot of the male members whose wives come up to me and say they're glad their husbands have joined as it means they have something to do"

CLUB COMPETITIONS

There is a thriving bowling league scene across the south of England. The Basildon Senior Rollers travel to play teams in places such as the Isle of Wight, Eastbourne, Lewisham, Worthing, Romford and Heathrow airport!
Competitions are always good fun and at some of the places, once the match is finished, we spend the rest of the day sight-seeing.
Most bowling centres have a Seniors' side - they usually meet during the weekdays, when the centre is quiet.

CLUB SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

We organise excursions, such as theatre trips and holidays. This winter we are going to Switzerland, which we are all looking forward to.
